In the most recent quarter (Q4-2025), global exports of finished personal care products showed a year-on-year decline (-2.6%, at constant prices), exacerbating the prolonged weakness of the supply chain.
In fact, in the preliminary 2025 figures, world exports of Fashion Products showed a slight increase (+0.7%, at constant prices), essentially confirming the previous year's result (+0.4%).
.. but with somewhat differentiated trends at the sector level...
The table below shows the 2024-2025 performance of world exports of Fashion Products by sector. The sectoral picture shows 2025 results (measured at constant prices) with declines or even only slight variations compared to the 2024 average for most of the sectors examined.
However, some sectors stand out for positive Y-o-Y growth in global exports.

Within the Fashion industry, the following 2025 performances are particularly noteworthy:
- overall declining trends for global exports of Bags, Suitcases and other leather goods2 (an average annual decline of 5.5 percentage points in year 2025, with a clear worsening compared to the 2024 result), Underwear and Hosiery3 (an average annual decline of almost 4 percentage points in year 2025, significantly worsening the 2024 result), Footwear4 (an average annual decline of 3.5 percentage points, an overall worsening compared to the already unfavorable 2024 result), Clothing Accessories5 (down by almost 5 percentage points on average in 2025, a sharp deterioration compared to 2024) and other Fashion Products (down by almost 6 percentage points compared to 2024, attesting to a deteriorating economic situation compared to the previous year);
- undynamic trends for global sales of Outerwear6 (slightly decreasing on average annually and worsening in the most recent quarter), and overall stable in 2025);
- on the other hand, significant growth, measured at constant prices, for global exports of Jewellery and Watches7 (+8.9% in year 2025, which is a strong recovery after the -5.2% in year 2024), Perfumes and Cosmetics8 (+5.7% on average in 2025, confirming the expansionary phase already highlighted in 2024), Sporting Goods and Musical Instruments9 (+3.4% pre-final 2025, albeit a slowdown in average annual growth compared to the +7.6% in 2024) and Lenses and Eyewear10 (+2.6% pre-confirmation for 2025, also an average annual slowdown compared to +5.2% in 2024).
.. and at the level of competitor countries.
Despite a weakly positive picture, among the world's leading exporters of Fashion Products, performances for 2025 are highly diverse:
- exports grew, even strongly, from Poland (+17.9%, measured at constant prices), Netherlands (+13.5%), Bangladesh (+10.7%), Vietnam (+8.6), Germany (+6.3%), Spain (+6.1%), Switzerland (+5.9%) and France (+3.2%);
- on the other hand, exports from China (-9.3%, at constant prices), Turkey (-5%), India (-2.6%), Italy (-2%) and Hong Kong (-2%) showed an average Y-o-Y decline.
Conclusions
The most recent Y-o-Y trends point to a worsening context for global exports of the Fashion industry, which closed 2025 with an overall performance - measured at constant prices - of only a slight increase (similar to the previous year).
However, the highly heterogeneous picture of results both at the sector level and also at the level of competitor countries suggests to an exporting company the strategic utility of continuous monitoring of market conditions, in terms of demand and the dynamics of the main competitors for the product/strategic business area of reference, in order to best support its international positioning.
