World Exports 2025 of Household Products: a preliminary assessment

In the most recent quarter (Q4-2025), global exports of finished home products showed a negative trend (-4.6%, at constant prices), reinforcing the weakening of the supply chain economy.
In the preliminary 2025 figures, global home system sales thus recorded an overall decline (-1.2%, at constant prices), worsening compared to the previous year (+4.5%).

Within the Household Products industry, the following performances are noted for 2025:
- steadiness, measured at constant prices, for world exports of Consumer Electronics2 (+0.9% Year-over-Year, at constant prices), Cutlery3 (+0.4%), Home Appliances4 (+0.1%) and Home Textiles5 (stable compared to 2024);
- Year-over-Year declines, measured at constant prices, for world exports of Pots and Pans6, Lighting Technology7 (-4.5%), Carpets, Tapestries, Wallpaper8 (-1.4%), Furniture and Furnishings9 (-1.1%), Glasses and Tableware10 (-1.1%), as well as General items for the home11 (-5%).
.. but in a very differentiated picture
at the level of competitor countries.
Despite an overall negative picture, within the group of the 10 main global home system exporters, differentiated performances for 2025 are noted:
- exports from Turkey (-6%, at constant prices), China (-5.5%), Mexico (-5.1%) and - above all - United States (-7.1%) are showing an average annual decline;
- exports from Italy are holding steady (-0.1%), despite with highly differentiated sectoral performances;
- instead, exports from Thailand (+11%), Germany (+9.4%), Poland (+8%), Netherlands (+5.7%) and France (+3.7%) showed sustained Year-over-Year growths.
Conclusions
The most recent trends confirm a deteriorating environment for global Household Products exports.
However, the high heterogeneity of results at the sector level and, above all, at the level of competitor countries suggests to an exporting company the strategic utility of continuously monitoring market conditions, both in terms of demand and the dynamics of its main competitors for its product/strategic business area, in order to best support its international positioning.
